Audio physic give you a choice of three superb active subwoofers. Depending on the application and your individual requirements, one of these will be right for you. The YARA SUB, LUNA SUB, and the mighty MINOS are all high quality units capable of being used for two channel or multi channel systems.

MINOS

Making the Impossible Possible

At the beginning of the 90s, Audio Physic was among the first high-end producers to seriously tackle the topic of audiophile subwoofers. In 1994 the Audio Physic RHEA became a world-wide success story. It was developed to achieve low bass performance and high volume, even down to a lower corner frequency of 10Hz. The output was essentially seamless without revealing the subwoofer's physical location. In many test reports the RHEA was given high praise for its uncompromised quality. At the turn of the millennium the magazine Image HiFi granted the Millennium-Award where the RHEA came first in the competition and was declared the best subwoofer.

The new MINOS subwoofer benefits greatly from previous experience. Through state-of-the-art driver and amplifier technology it has both higher volume output, and at the same time reduced distortion. We have built a smaller enclosure adequate for smaller listening rooms in a unique and attractive cabinet.

If you've experienced a taste of those bottom octaves in music reproduction, doing without is not an option. The new MINOS subwoofer was made for listeners with a sophisticated approach to music reproduction and who pay attention to quality and aesthetic.

The real heart of the subwoofer consists of two amplifiers for each loudspeaker driver for which the MINOS uses a bridge circuit. Due to the implementation of transimpedance feed forward circuits, a considerable reduction of distortion and extremely good signal reproduction are achieved. Bass performance is realized via two 12" long-throw woofers which are located on the sides of the enclosure, effectively back-to-back according to the push-push principle. The push-push technology was developed by Audio Physic and in 1989 this technology was implemented for the first time in the famous loudspeaker AVANTI. Movement vectors cancel each other out due to the effective back-to-back positioning of the loudspeaker drivers, providing a virtually resonance-free cabinet and minimal distortion in a real life setting. These features combine to deliver superb bass reproduction in all respects.

The cabinet is extremely compact and heavily dampened. The curved shape of the cabinet adds tremendous structural rigidity and maximum elimination of standing waves. This new and exquisite design was realized after implementation of the hornflex technique, a patented technique which Audio Physic initially used for the production of the AVANTI III loudspeaker. The cabinet's top is made of cross-bonded solid matching wood or, for black ash and markassa ebony, satin-black lacquer.

Remote control via cable makes it possible to easily adjust all control settings from the listening seat, even if the subwoofer is placed in a concealed corner of the room. An integrated display informs you of the mode (volume, roomgain, crossover, phase and mute) and the fine adjustments of the setting. You can save your favorite setting in the free memory space provided or you can revert to one of the three preset values set by Audio Physic. We recommend that you start with a preset value to achieve perfect adjustment to the listening room.

When two MINOS subwoofers are being adjusted, the controls of both woofers are set simultaneously with a single remote via a feed-through input. After adjustment, the cable can be disconnected. The woofer will then perform according to your control settings. Through an automatic switch-on system, the woofer turns on when it senses a signal and switches off 20 minutes after the last signal has been sent. This is to guarantee that the woofer is turned on only when needed.

LUNA

A new subwoofer star on the horizon

Contrary to what many people think, a subwoofer is much more than just a small peripheral loudspeaker that solely attempts to complement a satellite system as best it can. A closer look at the topic reveals an astounding range of possibilities where a subwoofer as master and commander of the bass frequencies can be applied. Even mature floor standing loudspeakers can ake advantage of immaculately controlled low frequencies to underpin the soundscape of the bottom octaves. At Audio Physic we felt the need to be able to generate realistic spatial sound cues without filtering of the main speakers. As a result, the loudspeakers are allowed to perform unhampered, and he spatial perception of sound sources is improved. The addition of one, or even better, two Luna II’s to your loudspeaker configuration will greatly add to the sound quality so that you will enjoy a more generous bass foundation and an increasingly dimensional sound image. Because of its design ingenuity, the Luna II provides an increased level of precision with effortless ease and transparency when its numerous functions are adjusted correctly. Of course, the active-powered Luna II, driven by its own powerful 180 watt amplifier, can also deliver ear h moving effects and incredible depths to enhance your home heatre experience. Due o the subwoofer’s LFE input and sophisticated automatic signal detection, he loudspeaker input, which is optimized for stereo applications, is turned off when an input signal is detected from an AV receiver. In addition, the Luna II comes with a ROOMGAIN function that allows exact adjustment to he individual characteristics of your listening room. At Audio Physic we are aware hat the final word is yours in terms of sound adjustment and we are committed to providing you with appropriate, easy to handle equipment. Due to its flexibility and adjustability, this newly designed successor to he original much loved Luna is ideally suited to partner Audio Physic Spark, Tempo, Padua and Virgo loudspeakers as well as loudspeakers from other manufacturers.

Some excellent special features come with the Luna II

In addition to he controls for CROSSOVER FREQUENCY and BASS LEVEL on the back panel, you can also adjust the subwoofer to match the PHASE of your main speakers. The Luna II’s trump card is its superbly increased precision and impressively stable sound stage as opposed to loud and flashy booms or rumbles. Speaking of rumbles: the special ROOMGAIN function allows exact adjustment of the Luna II to he individual characteristics of your listening room. At Audio Physic we believe that a subwoofer should never be used to merely pressurise a room with bass – a principle that we have demonstrated superbly in our reference class loudspeaker the Kronos.

One LFE output of the Luna II is fitted with a cinch socket for optimal hook-up to a surround receiver. The switchable input accommodates a subwoofer BYPASS switch that allows you to bypass the filter circuit and conveniently use your AV receiver to adjust the bass settings. If the switch is set to FILTER, the subwoofer reverts to the settings that it was adjusted to on the back panel. The automatic signal detection turns off the loudspeaker inputs whenever an input signal is detected on a LFE channel. The signal from your loudspeaker cables will then be fed through to he main speakers, whereby the subwoofer receives the LFE signal. In other words, this double feature allows your Luna II to complement any stereo or surround system and deliver best results.

The built-in amplifier is equipped with opto-electronic, soft-clipping circuitry that further enhances the sound performance and increases the maximum sound pressure level. The active design allows the subwoofer to specifically correct particular properties of the drive units. A sophisticated solution that offers some real benefits to both movie and music lovers.

The ultra long throw 10" active woofer drive unit with an extremely stiff aluminium cone, coupled with a 12" passive radiator, delivers a precise bass presence of stunning clarity with not a trace of boominess, even when the subwoofer is placed in the corner of a room.

YARA II SUB

A commitment to quality, sound and design

Yara II Subwoofer

Last but not least the YARA II SUB is upgraded with a newly designed class D amplifier and with a brand new 10'' woofer featuring an aluminium diaphragm. The closed woofer design achieves a perfect marriage of depth and precision.
